Goodbye seniors, hello sixth graders! At ‘Iolani, many sixth graders experience this feeling during the Moving Up Ceremony, in which the students graduate middle school and embark on a new journey into Upper School. On the sunny morning of May 21st, ‘Iolani’s sixth grade students filed into the chapel as the seniors walked out.
The Moving Up Ceremony was a special moment for many students, who carry the memory with them. Aloha Cerit ’18 recalled her Moving Up Ceremony and said, “I thought it was just the biggest deal ever! I was so excited and proud of myself. Back then, graduating from 6th grade was a really big deal. We would be moving to Upper School where the “big kids” were and we were about to become one of them.” Emma Chuck ’18 said, “Moving Up Ceremony was cool because it was special knowing you were going to upper school and it was a new adventure.”
