`Iolani’s first all-Raider lacrosse team has made a significant step towards establishing its place in the Hawaii lacrosse community this past Saturday at Central Oahu Regional Park (CORP) by beating the formidable Punahou team in a shutout, 7-0.
Thanks to the acrobatic antics of goalie “Stonewall” Stephen Toyofuku and the skills of the Raider defense, the Punahou team was left scoreless and beaten by the end of the game.
Playing at noon, in the hot, sweltering heat at CORP, the `Iolani team endured, the attack almost flawless. Nearly all of their shots made it into the back of the net.
“Everyone did well [that game] and we kicked some Pun butt,” says Kyle Kim ‘11, a defensemen on the team.
Midfielder Sophomore Joey Harpstrite said, “We’ve improved a lot since the start of the season and everybody gave 100% effort that game…guaranteed we were gonna win that game.”
